A documentary for Branding & Design Agency, Practice Theory as part of their “Sans Everything” exhibition, held during the Singapore Design Week 2025.
The film traces the creation of their typeface, Practice Sans — not as a technical study, but as a portrait of the people, process, and spirit behind it. Following three designers whose collaboration balances precision and play, the film celebrates the quiet perseverance that transforms an idea into a finished work, and the beauty of making something with care and intent.

Director’s Statement:
In a creative landscape saturated with ambition but starved of follow-throughs, there's a quiet miracle of an idea that actually gets made. Practice Sans began with what felt like a contradiction: three innately different designers setting out to create a font that, at first glance, looked like many others.
As I spent time learning about their process, I discovered this audacity that they have: to give a f*ck.
Be it a curve of a single letter to the meticulous intention of spaces in between, I see how Practice Sans is a quiet statement about doing something properly, even when no one's asking for it.
There's a process with the rare momentum that turns an idea into something real. I want to honour the quiet, deliberate labour of making something. Like many other creative projects, this could have easily stayed unfinished, yet it didn't, and here we are.
